(Carrollton Free Press Standard, Friday, March 30, 1906)
Kennedy Pottorf died early Friday at his home near Oneida, and was buried Sunday at Malvern. He had been ill about ten days, and the day before his death it was thought he was on the road to recovery. The funeral was one of the largest held on the Sandy Valley for years.
Mr. Pottorf was born in Brown township in August, 1850, and was married to Axie Worley, a daughter of John Worley, 31 years to the day on which he was buried. Three children were born to them, Grace, at home, Roy and Emory of Canton, who with Mrs. Pottorf survive him. He was a member of the Lutheran church and was well known along the Sandy Valley. He was a broad-minded man and took an active interest in anything which aimed to advance the welfare of the community; and he was especially interested in the schools. In politics he was a staunch Republican. Mr. Pottorf will be greatly missed in his neighborhood.
