Vashti Louise Buckman Stokes, age 97, of Fayetteville, AR, died Monday, June 12,
2000 at Washington Regional Medical Center. She was born August 11, 1902 at
Havana, AR, the daughter of Shell and Addie Denton Buckman. She was a homemaker
and baby sat for one family for over 25 years. She taught Sunday School for over
60 years. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church. She attended the
Normal School in Russellville (now known as Arkansas Tech).

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Marshal Stokes in 1980, her
parents, seven brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by, one son, Joseph F. Stokes of Bowling Green, KY; two
daughters, Mary Louise Stokes of Fayetteville, AR and Martha E. Hurst of
Flippin, AR; several nieces, nephews and close friends, Dr. Jacob C. Agee and
family.

Service was June 15 at First Assembly of God Church officiated by Rev. Wayne
Danner with eulogy by Dr. Kim Agee. Burial was at Baptist Ford Cemetery under
