UMBENHOWER

Bertha Emaline Umbenhower, daughter of John Wesley and Mary Ellen Butrum, was born April 19, 1888, in Grant County, Kansas, and passed from this life on July 13, 1972, at the Lucas County Memorial Hospital at the age of 84 years, 2 months and 23 days.

Most of her life was spent in Lucas County. On April 25, 1906, she was united in marriage to John H. Umbenhower. They lived for many years on a farm in Pleasant Township, later moving into Chariton.

She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.

She has made her home at the Chariton Manor since July 3, 1971, where she has been tenderly cared for.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1955.

She is survived by one brother, Clifford Butrum and his wife, Rosie of Knoxville; one sister-in-law, Mabel Umbenhower of Chariton, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Duane Houston at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 16, 1972, at the Fielding Funeral Home. Interment was in the Coal Glen Cemetery.
