After her husband's death in 1846, she, along with her sister Margaret (Hogan) Kavanaugh [FindAGrave #88777067] and her family, came to America. They were on the Erie Canal, heading for Chicago, when one of Anastasia's children got sick. Anastasia and her family disembarked in Albany, where they lived through 1855. Her son Philip moved to Charleston SC, and sent for the rest of the family. By 1860 the family was settled in Charleston. Anastasia was killed in a train wreck in Columbia on 11 November 1870, as she was returning to Charleston from Anderson SC.
