Juanita Baker, 76, 321 Hoosier Ave., Oolitic, died Tuesday, December 16, 2008, at 9:56 a.m. at Bedford Regional Medical Center.

Born July 29, 1932, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Ernie and Clara (Reed) Voorhies.

She was retired from Carpenter Body Works in Mitchell and a member of the Body of Christ Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Wallskog of Bedford, two grandsons: Adam Wallskog of Bedford and Jessie Smith of Bedford; one great-grandson, Jeremy New of Harrodsburg; one stepson, Bobby Baker of Singer, Calif., two step-granddaughters: Ashley and Mary Jo Baker of Singer, Calif., three sisters: Helen M. Kent of Mitchell, Margaret York of Mitchell, Mary Baker of Scottsville, Ky.; three brothers: George Voorhies of Albertville, Ala., Dale Voorhies of Dumonte, Ind., and Orval Voorhies of Lake Village, Ind. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons: Jeffrey Smith and James E. Smith, one grandson, Jeremy J. Smith, two brothers: Estel Voorhies and Dexter Voorhies and one sister, Janet Schmidt.

Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Cresthaven Funeral Home with Pastor John Turpin officiating. Burial will follow at Owensburg Cemetery.
