Bessie M. Spitler
Bessie Mae SPITLER, 69, R.R. 13, Fort Wayne, a former Rochester resident, died at 11:20 p.m. Wednesday at Fort Wayne Parkview Memorial hospital. She was hospitalized last July 27.
Born Sept. 21, 1894 in Collins, Ind., she was the daughter of Harrison and Nettie DULL CRABILL. She had resided most of her life in Rochester, moving to Fort Wayne 4 1/2 years ago.
Mrs. Spitler was married to Delmar DeLAND, who died in 1941. On Dec. 5, 1959, she was married in Rochester to Forest R. SPITLER. She was employed at Wile's store for a number of years and attended the Methodist church at Churubusco.
Surviving with the husband are a son, Darwin DeLAND, R.R. 13, Fort Wayne; two grandsons, Darwin [DeLAND], Jr., and David [DeLAND]; two step-sons, Robert SPITLER, New Jersey, and Gail SPITLER, Fort Wayne; a step-daughter, Mrs. Robert KLOPENSTEIN, New Castle; nine step-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Marie SUMMERS, Rochester; Mrs. Raymond {Mable} JONES, formerly of Rochester and now of St. Louis, and Mrs. Harold (Mildred) NUTT, of St. Louis. A brother preceded in death.
Final rites will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Foster & Good funeral home with the Rev. V. L. GARNER officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery here. Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Friday.
