Martha Alice Archer was born on February 9, 1868 in Washington Township, Logan County, Ohio to Abraham and Margaret Shaffer Archer. Martha had eight siblings: Margaret E, William James, George H, Cora Ellen, Martin Allen, Charles M, Nora Dell, and Roy Archer. She came to Indian Territory in 1896 from Lake View, Ohio. She first settled in the Tulsa, Oklahoma area and moved to the Bartlesville/Dewey area of Washington County, Oklahoma in 1945.
Martha married Charles Edward "Ned" Garlick on April 15, 1886 in Ohio. They were parents of five children, Omer Huntley Garlick, Charles Wilmer Garlick, Nora Loraine Garlick, Delmar Burton Garlick, and Mabel Leona Garlick. Ned and Martha were divorced some years later. Mr. Garlick passed away in 1959 and is buried in Haskell, Oklahoma.

Funeral services were held on April 24, 1950, and burial was in White Rose Cemetery under the direction of Neekamp Funeral Home. Rev. Harold Graves, Pastor of the First Baptist Church officiated.
