Jefferson R. Burnett was the oldest of 23 children and the father of 7 children with his wife, Mary Lougenia Hensdale Burnett. Their children were as follows: Susan L. Burnett (1866-1874), Bennett Woodson Burnett (1863-1926), Mary Lougenia Burnett Willingham (1865-1951), Caroline Burnett (1868-1890), Zoe Lorea Burnett Potter (1871-1900), Harriett Burnett Smith (1874-1895), and Joseph Manning Burnett (1878-1918).
