James Burney Allen, Jr.

Death is just a natural thing like the closing of a door as we start upon a journey to a new and distant shore. So let your grief be placed in the loving Father's care. Life on earth is a transient affair, just a few brief years in which to prepare for a life that is free from pain and tears, where time is not counted in hours and years. For death is only the method God chose to colonize Heaven with the soul of those who by their apprenticeship on earth proved worthy to dwell in the Land of New Birth. So death is not sad…it is a time for elation, a joyous transition…the soul's emigration to a place where the soul is safe and free to live with God through eternity.

God must have looked down from heaven and saw that a soul was tired. Then he looked at the record and saw that James' work was done. On January 22, 2009 he sent an angel to carry James Burney Allen, Jr. on home. Burney was born on September 23, 1936 in Tulsa, Oklahoma; he was one of three children. His father, mother and sister Burnie Mae Harrison preceded him in death.

Burney received his education in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In 1975 he met Karen Hall and proceeded to help raise Dale and during their union two children were born, a beautiful baby girl Bernadette Allen and 14 months later, a son James Burney Allen, III. Burney enjoyed life to the fullest.

The old saying that everybody has a song for life; some say this is right and some say this is wrong, but Burney "Necktight" Allen would say "I Did It My Way". He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved Karen who was there to the end, his daughter Bernadette Allen, his son James B, Allen, III, Dale Hall, Vanessa Hall, Brandon Hall, and Ardella Pearson all of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He also leaves to cherish his memory Ervin McAlester, Karen McAlester, Sharon McAlester, and Eartha of Tulsa. A special niece Ann E. Campbell of Fort Smith, Arkansas, a cousin Jerri Edwards of Coweta, OK.

His legacy will continue in his 27 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Service: 11AM Thursday, February 5 at Macedonia Baptist Church, 2426 E. 28th St. N.; interment: Green Acres Cemetery, both in Tulsa.
