FUNERAL SATURDAY AT BRUNSWICK FOR VIRGIL FORT BURTON
BRUNSWICK, Mo., May 24---Funeral services were held here Saturday afternoon for Virgil Fort Burton, 70, prominent Chariton County farmer and stockman who died Thursday at the home of a son, Earl Burton, near Brunswick. The services were conducted from the First Baptist Church by the pastor, the Rev. C. D. Finfrock.
Mr. Burton had been ill about four months. Following a short period of treatment at Woodland Hospital, Moberly, recently, he was returned to his home. His condition had been critical for several days.
Born near Clifton Hill, he was the son of Hencely and Rachel Lyon Burton. He was reared in that community and married Miss Minnie M. Tillerson, September 25, 1902. The family lived near Salisbury for a time, but in 1920 the Burtons moved to a farm near Brunswick. A life-long farmer, Mr. Burton was widely known as a breeder of purebred Shorthorn cattle. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Surviving, besides the widow of the home, and the son, Earl Burton, are a son, Carl Burton, Independence, and a brother and sister, Albert Burton, Clifton Hill and Mrs. Jennie Fullington, Higbee.
Burial was in the Lower Cemetery, east of Brunswick.
