PLEASANT PLAINS - Mary Susan Allen, 59, of Pleasant Plains, IL, died Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at St. John's Hospital.

She was born the daughter of Hubert C. and Della Mae (Moss) Allen on February 25, 1950, in Springfield, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Nancy Allen.

She was employed with Springfield School District 186 as a teacher.

She was very active in the PTA, SEA (Springfield Education Association), IEA (Illinois Education Association) and NEA (National Education Association). She was a Golden Apple Award recipient.

She was a former member of 5th Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by a son, Peter Tungate Allen; 2 brothers, H.C.J. (wife, Shirley) Allen of Buffalo, IL, and James (wife, Sharon) of Chatham, IL. Nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.

Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 East Allen. The family will meet friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2009, at the funeral home. Graveside memorial services will be held Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at 4:00 p.m. at Roselawn Memorial Park.

The family asks that memorials be made to the Allen family.
