American Fork, Dec. 28,-
W.H. Robinson has just returned home from Shelley, Ida., where he has been attending the funeral of his mother, who died at that city on the 16th of this month. Mrs. Robinson, up to five years ago, was a resident of this city, at which time she, in company with her husband, removed to Idaho. She was in her seventy-seventh year, and was one of the first pioneers of American Fork, having settled here in the early '50's, and endured the hardships that were experienced in the early pioneer life of this state, and knowing in the true sense the meaning of the word pioneer.
The deceased was born in Consborough, Yorkshire, England, in 1830, the daughter of William Hobson. She emigrated to America in 1846 and in February, 1850, she became the wife of Joseph Robinson at St. Louis, Mo., and in 1852 they crossed the plains, and after a trying trip over many days they arrived in Salt Lake City, coming to American Fork soon after, where they lived for nearly fifty years, moving to Idaho in 1902. Besides her husband, Mrs. Robinson is survived by four daughters and five sons. The daughters are Mrs. Mary Poppleton of Idaho Falls, Mrs. Nellie McLean of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Sarah Jackson of Manning, Utah, and Miss Martha Robinson of Shelley, Ida. The sons are William H, of this city; George G., of Pocatello; Tempest, of Thunder Mounbtain, Ida.; James H., of Mt. Pleasant, Utah, and Joshua, of Pleasant Grove, Utah.
