He married LaVonne Grisso at the Wabash Christian Church on August 6, 1949; she died April 18, 1996. He is survived by his two sons, John William Guthrie and Charles Ronald (Pam) Guthrie; his daughter, Julie Ann Guthrie; his sister, Virginia Goff all of Wabash; his granddaughter, Laura V. Guthrie, also of Wabash; and his grandson, Charles Wiliam (Jo Ann) Guthrie of Shelbyville. He is preceded in death by his brother James Guthrie. John owned and operated Guthrie's 76 Service Station in Wabash for 40 years, retiring in 1988. This avid fisherman was a 1943 graduate of Wabash High School, a veteran of the US Army, and a life-long resident of Wabash. Mr. Guthrie was a member of the Wabash Christian Church and Hanna Masonic Lodge #61 F&AM. There will be a Masonic service at the funeral home Tuesday at 7:30 pm.
