C. G. Ahlstedt, a resident of the Nelson community for the past fifty years, passed away at a local hospital Wednesday, last week, due to complications due to old age.

Carl G. Ahlstedt was born in Gotenborg, Sweden, Jan. 27, 1861, the son of Carl Magnus Ahlstedt and Gustava Hanson, being at the time of his death 87 years of age. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Sweden, and attended the common schools there. In 1833 (error-he wasn't born until 1861) he came to America, going to Minneapolis for a short time and then coming to Nelson;. He lived with his sister, Mrs. Louis Backus for the past 18 years.

Surviving are two sisters, Albertina Larson and Mrs. Louis Backus. Funeral services were held Friday, May 28th, at 2 p.m. from the Anderson Funeral home, Rev. C. E. Hansen conducting. Pallbearers were Gustaf Larson, Marshall Larson, Russell Larson, Theodore Larson, Floyd Larson and Leslie Hanson. Interment was made in Kinkead cemetery.
