Pneumonia Fatal to Griff Cloud; Is Buried Today

A wide circle of friends grieve today because of the passing of William Griffith Cloud, whose death occurred at his home in Bryan, Monday afternoon, at 4:45 o'clock after an illness of five days with pneumonia. Born in Kurten community, Griff Cloud, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Cloud, had lived all his life here, and at the time of his death was 29 years, 3 months and 15 days.

He attended the Bryan city schools and was graduated from Bryan high school with the class of 1921. He then entered the A. and M. College and would have received his degree from that institution in June 1925 but left school in
February of that year to enter the business world in Bryan with the Piggly-Wiggly Grocery company. After being connectd with this firm for one year, he became owner and manager of the business, which position he held to the time of his death.

December 25, 1929, Mr. Cloud was married in Bastrop to Miss Frances Wilkes of that place. The young widow is left to mourn his passing as also are his parents Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Cloud, two brothers and two sisters, Glenn and Robert L. Cloud, and Mrs. Irma C. Hensarling and Miss Mildred Cloud.

This afternoon at 4 o'clock from the late residence of the deceased on West 30th street, funeral services were held, with Rev. I. J. Blackwelder of the Free Will Baptist church, and Dr. W. H. andrews of the First Baptist church in charge. Interment was made in the Cloud family lot in Bryan city cemetery. Floral offerings from many friends in this and other cities of the state covered the new made grave with a blanket of beauty.

Serving as pall bearers where the following close friends of the deceased: Howard Mitchell; Parker Carroll, W. R. McCullough, Roy W. Nunn, Frank Boriskie, A. E. Jones, B. C. Allen, Tom G. Suber.
