Thomas Spaulding Lowe, 89, passed away July 11, 1996, at Heritage Park Care Center in Roy.

He was born January 7, 1907, in Hooper, Utah, a son of Thomas A. and Julia Frances Spaulding Lowe. He married Nellie Rampton, July 6, 1928 in Ogden, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Nellie died November 5, 1994.

He was educated in the Weber County School District. He completed electrical training at a technical college in Los Angeles, California. Tom's life has been one of service to his family, church and community. He was an active member of the LDS Church. He was in a farming and cattle partnership with his brother until Tom's retirement. He was president of the Hooper Farm Bureau and a Director of the Weber County and State Farm Bureau. He was president and director of the Weber County Canning Crops Assoc., and served ten years as president of the Utah State Canning Crops Assoc. He served with the National Marketing Assoc., and was a member of the Canning Research and Experimental Committee sponsored by Utah State University. He was also a member of the Weber County Beefeaters Assoc. Tom was president of the Hooper Irrigation Co., and president of the Hooper Parent Teacher's Assoc. He worked in the Boy Scout Program, and served over 20 years on the Hooper and Weber County Old Folks Committee. He has received many awards and honors for his contributions and dedicated service to agriculture.

He is survived by two sons and one daughter: Don R. (Sherrill) Lowe, Bountiful; Lorene (J.D.) Bingham, Plain City; Jack T. (Karen) Lowe, Centerville; 15 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother and two sisters, Clyde Lowe, Slaterville; Jennie Houghton, Bountiful; Effie Watson, Douglas, Wyoming.
