FRANKLINTON Dorothy Pierce Bell, 83, a resident of Franklinton, died yesterday in her home. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and held local, district, and state offices of United Methodist Women. She was an avid artist and quilter.

Survivors include her husband, J.W. Bell Jr. of Franklinton; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert Pierce of Shreveport, and Barry and Monica Burris Pierce of Covington; a daughter and son-in-law, Virginia Pierce Burris and Judge Wm. J. Burris of Franklinton; eight grandchildren, Jason Pierce of Denver, CO, Jennifer Burris Veillon of Sugarland, Texas, Katie Burris of Nashville, TN, Johnny Burris of Ruston, Billy Burris of Franklinton, Liz Smith of New Orleans, John Pierce of Covington, and Laura Pierce Werner of Picayune, MS; two great-grandchildren, Anthony Paul Werner, and Carter Joseph Veillon; two stepchildren, Richard Bell of Memphis, TN, and John Wm Bell III of Franklinton; five step-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harvell Pierce; her parents, Rev. and Mrs. R.I. Bell; and a sister, Jean Bell.

Visitation will be held at Crain Funeral Home from 6-9 p.m. today and will continue after 9 a.m. tomorrow at Centenary United Methodist Church until time of the funeral service, to be conducted at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Lyndle Bullard. Burial will follow in the Morris Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jason Pierce, John Pierce, Billy Burris, Johnny Burris, Chris Veillon and Tony Werner.
