David Brainerd Requa, named for Rev. David Brainerd, a President of Yale University at New Haven, Conn., an early missionary to several native American tribes throughout New England, and namesake of Brainerd Mission, one of the earliest (circa 1818) missions to the Cherokee Indians near present-day Chattanoga, TN.
