A Mass of Christian Burial for Zanette Marie Hatten will be held on Wednesday, 2 p.m., April 29, 2009 at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Shingletown.
Internment immediately following at Ogburn Inwood Cemetery, Shingletown.
Zanette, 86 died peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her family, early in the morning on Sunday, April 26, at Mercy Medical Center.
Zanette was born in Idaho, on March 28, 1923. She was a long time Shasta County resident. Zanette graduated from Shasta High School, Class of 1941. After graduation, she moved to Oakland, CA, where she met and married Joseph Hatten in 1945. They were married for 43 years and raised five children. Being married to a professional baseball player, she had the opportunity to travel the world -Brooklyn, NY, Chicago, IL, Los Angeles, CA, Vancouver, BC, and Havana Cuba. Zanette worked for California Division of Highways and Forestry and US Forest Service for over 30 years. She was active in various community organizations including Mercy Medical Center Pink Ladies Association. She was a founding member of Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Shingletown, California.
Zanette was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph and her parents William and Sybil Easley.
She is survived by brother Harlan Easley, of Redding, CA and sister Lanaya Dix of Saratoga, CA; sons William of Chula Vista, CA; Donald of Redding; daughters Donna Gaylor of Tuolumne, CA; Judith Hatten of Sunland, CA; and Barbara Hatten Oorthuys of Portland, OR and grandson David Gaylor of Sparks, NV.
