Former Mission Secretary Dies At Age Of 90

Mrs. Eva Bartlett, 90, of near Manilla, a former national missionary society official, died at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Hospital at Greensburg after a long period of failing health. Her condition became serious a few days ago.

Several years ago Mrs. Bartlett served as general secretary of the Wesleyan Methodist Missionary Society of the United States. She was a member of the Little Blue River Wesleyan Methodist Church and long had been active in religious matters.

She was born in Posey Township on March 16, 1869, the daughter of William J. and Sarah Worth McMichael, and had spent her entire life in the community between Arlington and Manilla.

In 1918 she was married to Edwin Miller, who died in 1933. Her second husband, Elmer Bartlett, whom she married in 1938, died in 1947.

Survivors include two stepdaughters, Mrs. Luther Taylor of Portland and Mrs. Robert Banning, whose present address is unknown, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Little Blue River Wesleyan Church, with the Rev. Eldine Landis officiating, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Carmony Funeral Home in Manilla after noon Saturday.

Death Claims Mrs. Bartlett

Mrs. Eva Bartlett, 90, lifelong resident of Posey township, Rush county, died at the Greensburg Memorial Hospital Wednesday at 2:30 p.m of a complication of diseases. She had been in failing health for several years.

Mrs. Bartlett, whose home was north of Manilla, was a member of the Little Blue River Wesleyan Methodist Church and at one time was general secretary of the Wesleyan Methodist Missionary Society of the United States. Her funeral will be held at the church Sunday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Eldine Landis officiating. Burial in charge of the Carmony Funeral Home of Manilla, will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Saturday.

Born March 16, 1869, she was a daughter of William J. and Sarah McMichael and was the last of a family of seven children. In 1918 she was married to Edwin Miller whose death occurred in 1933. In 1938 she was married to Elmer Bartlett and he preceded in death in 1947. She is survived by three step-daughters and several nieces and nephews.
