Bertha was the daughter of David Wilson & Amanda Lee (Sizemore) Self.
Bertha, age 23, was married to Dalton W. Towner, 26, in Centralia, WA on November 12, 1938. Their ceremony was performed by Rev. Earl H. VanDoren, pastor of the Christian Church in Centralia, WA.
Their children were: Penny, Terry, & April.
Dalton died on September 9, 1995.
A short death notice was published in The Chronicle in Centralia, Lewis Co, WA, which was followed by her obituary a little later.

"BERTHA MAE TOWNER
Bertha Mae Towner, 92, a lifelong resident of Lewis and Thurston counties, passed away March 11 at Capitol Medical Center after a brief but valiant battle with cancer.
Bertha was born Feb. 19, 1915 to David Wilson and Mandy Sizemore Self, in Centralia, WA.
She graduated from Chehalis High School in 1934 and worked for Dr. McMillian inn his office. Bertha later attended the Mary Stone Beauty School in Seattle, WA.
Bertha married Dalton Towner in 1938. They made their home in Centralia and later moved to rural Thurston county.
Bertha was preceded in death by her parents and sisters; Elsie Self, Dorothy Sapp, Agnes Brown and Ginger Sloan.
She is survived by sons Terry Towner, wife Francis, and his children Teresa, Cliff and Clint; Kim Towner and son, Chris; Erin Towner, wife Meriem, and children Anwan and Nona, her daughters Penny Collins, husband David, their daughter Connie, and April Towner and Dale Middaugh. She is also survived by her sister, Vivian Heryford, and by numerous nieces and nephews, several great grandchildren.
Bertha worked in several state offices during the 1960's and 1970's. She enjoyed baking and sewing for her family and others. For many years she enjoyed the seclusion of her Thurston county home, the woodland scene surrounding her and the company of her dogs. She followed current events closely and was an avid reader.
Through failing somewhat in later years, Bertha maintained her independent lifestyle right up until the end and her wit and original outlook will be missed by all who knew her.
There will be no service at the request of the deceased."
