Mrs. Mayo was born in Lyndhurst, June 15, 1908, a daughter of the late Nelson Orville and Clara Virginia Parry Thompson. She was a member of the Lyndhurst United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Frederick Mayo, on July 10, 1962.
Surviving are two stepsons, Clyde Adam Mayo and John Austin Mayo, both of Waynesboro; one stepdaughter, Miss Mary Alpha Mayo of Lyndhurst; three sisters, Mrs. Nellie O. Moses, Mrs. Ann V. Arthur and Mrs. Hulda C. Brownlee, all of Lyndhurst; four brothers, Arthur A. Thompson of Columbia, S. C., Aubrey R. Thompson of Waynesboro, Nelson N. Thompson of Lyndhurst and Willie G. Thompson of Route 2, Waynesboro; a number of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow in the chapel of the Etter Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Clyde W. Weaver Jr. and the Rev. Robert E. Mader, with burial in the Lyndhurst United Methodist Church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Curtis Floyd, James (Sonny) Robertson, Willie T. Henderson, Paul Brydge, Vance Brydge and Gordon Patterson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. B. K. Weems, Ward Lee Cohron, Clyde Shaw, Paul Smith, T. O. Tench, Andrew Brookman, George Shaffer, Robert McGann, Robert Wirt, Raymond Hite and William L. Painter.
The body will remain at the Etter Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight.
