Deputy Lopez, along with another Okaloosa County Deputy (Warren Keith "Skip" York), was killed in the line-of-duty after being shot by a domestic violence suspect, they were attempting to arrest near Crestview in Okaloosa County, FL.
Deputy Lopez joined the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, October 5, 2003, after having served twenty years in the USAF. He had retired from the USAF with the rank of MSGT.
Deputy Lopez was the son of Jesse (dec'd.) and Virginia Lopez, and the husband of Michelle.
In addition to his wife, children, and mother, Deputy Lopez is survived by a large and loving family; and a host of friends who will greatly miss his love, caring nature, and wonderful sense of humor.
