Ross Abel, long time resident of the Chester North country some
thirteen years ago, died in the Veteran's hospital at Sheridan, Wyoming last Saturday morning, where he had been a patient for the last 12 years.
Mr. Abel settled on a homestead north of Chester in 1910 and farmed
there, except for the time he spent in the army during World War I,
until early in 1939, when he sufffered a stroke that left his right
side paralyzed. He was taken to the Deaconess hospital in Havre, but after a few days was transferred to the Fort Harrison Veterans hospital in Helena where he stayed for about a year, when he was taken to Sheridan, Wyoming, where he stayed until his death.
He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Melvina Lakey, northwest of Chester, Mrs, Edna Mercer, Denver, Colorado, Mrs. Hattie Kellogg,
Fordsville, North Dakota and one brother, Roy Abel of Kelseyville,
California.
There will be funeral services at the M. E. church in Chester next
Saturday, February 16, at 2 p.m., after which the body wlll be taken
to Fordsville, North Dakota for burial in the family lot in that city.
