He was born Oct. 27, 1930 to Myron "Mike" and Estella Leavitt.
Justice Leavitt served in several elected positions, including Justice of the Peace, County Commissioner, City Commissioner, Lt. Governor and District Court Judge. He served on the Nevada Supreme Court from 1999 until his passing.
He was very active in youth sports coaching football, basketball, baseball and Bobby Sox softball for over forty years.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding many positions within the church.
Justice Myron E. Leavitt Middle School was dedicated in his honor in March of 2002.
He was married to his lovely wife and companion, Shirley, for 49 years.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; their 11 children, Dennis (Julie), Steve (Elaine), Kathy Wright, Cindy Foote (Ray), Debbie Earl (Lance), Tom, Andy (Trish), Michelle, Delbert (Machelle), Jim (Amy) and Sue (Tony) Abbatangelo; and 34 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Jack Leavitt.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 13, at Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.
Services will be held at noon, Wednesday, Jan. 14, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4040 E. Wyoming. The family requests donations be made to the Kidney Foundation of Nevada in his name.
