Mr. Findley was a Store Owner, then the VP of Brownstown State Bank. No children survived him.

Mr. James Hugh Findley and Mrs. Sarah Catherine HAMILTON Findily raised a girl who was not their own; Lizzie Casper. On the 1880 Census document, she is living in their household, and is referred to as "Lizzie Findley." On the death certificate of her daughter Glenn Elizabeth Miller, Lizzie's maiden name is Lizzie Casper. In the Indiana, U.S., Marriages, 1810-2001, Lizzie is named as Lizzie Findley Casper. In the Brownstown Banner article, June 20, 1895, an article about her wedding was published. She is referred to as Lizzie Findley.
In the Last Will & Testament of James Hugh Findley, he states : Item 2nd I will divise and bequeath to Mrs. Lizzie Miller (a girl whom we raised) now the wife of Bruce L. Miller, The sum of Two Thousand dollars...."
