Mr. Andrew Edward Hermes Sr., 83, of San Angelo, Texas, died on Friday, April 17, 2009, in a Kerrville hospital.
Andrew was born on Sept. 12, 1925, in Tarpley, Texas, to Odo Edward Hermes and Louise Marquis Hermes.
Hermes served his country during World War II as a Medical Technician, which included working on military hospital ships in England and Hawaii.
After his military service, he married Gertrude Welch on July 4, 1946, in Uvalde, Texas. Gertrude preceded him in death on March 25, 2009.
Andrew was a retired oilfield gauger. He was a member of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include his daughter, Barbara Smith of Robert Lee; son, Andrew E. Hermes Jr. of Big Lake; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Helen Boner; a sister, Thelma, and a baby brother.
Graveside services were held on Monday, April 20, 2009, at Vance Cemetery in Vance, Texas, with the Rev. Tim Fahrenthold, officiating.
