He was born in Waco, Texas, Dec. 29, 1895, and later moved to Idabell, Okla. On July 25, 1917, he married Addie Griffin at DeKalb, Tex.
Mr. Bateman operated a truck line in Oklahoma before moving to Wenatchee in 1943. He worked for Keokuk Electric Metals before his illness.
He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Surviving are his widow; one son, Charles R. Bateman, and two daughters, Mrs. James Gamble and Mrs. J. R. Farley, all of East Wenatchee; a brother, Samuel Bateman, Seattle; and a sister, Mrs. Daisy Andiever, of Louisiana, and 14 grandchildren.
