Purple Heart To Be Given At Dedication
Captain Hannamen of the U.S. Marine Corps will present the "Order of the Purple Heart" to the parents of L-Cpl. Mark A. Ferguson of Lancaster, Sunday, Dec. 4. This will be during a dedication of a memorial plaque in memory of Mark to be held at 3 p.m. in Lancaster Cemetery 44822 Division St.
Mark, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Ferguson, was the first boy from Lancaster to be killed in the Viet Nam conflict. The people of Antelope Valley contributed through the AV Viet Nam Supporters to erect a plaque on which the words of a poem composed by Mark and his buddies have been inscribed.
The plaque will be set by the tree which has been planted as a living memorial to L-Cpl. Ferguson.
