Wesley was a good father who raised his children to become great adults. He passed away 1928, and is buried beside his wife and Brother.

John Wesley Johnson.. 1856-1928
Mr Johnson born in LaGrange, Lorain Co., Ohio., 15 May 1856. His father John F. Johnson & his mother Esther O (Pearce) Johnson we're natives of New York. He was reared on his father's farm in Ohio and educated in the public schools, where he proved to be an industrious student. His attendance was fraught with considerable tribulation as the nearest school house was 2 miles from the farm, with the roads during part of the year, were nearly impassable. In 1863 the family sold the farm and moved to La Salle Co., Illinois continuing their agricultural pursuits with success, until 1872 when the Father and five sons went to Kansas taking up government land in the Cherokee strip. When 21 years old John Wesley Johnson entered the employ of Mr. Tuttle for whom he drove cattle from Texas, and afterward he entered the cattle-raising business for himself. His next adventure was in Montana where he took a contract on the Northern Pacific Railroad To furnish ties for its line in which he engaged for a year and a half. Upon his return to summer county Kansas he again Engaged in agriculture until 1889 when he made the famous run in Oklahoma with his brother Frank C. Johnson. There was considerable contention regarding the claim he Subsequently purchased, After five or six years. It is located on the Northeast quarter of 11, Sec 16, range 1 West, Logan county And there are 80 acres of greatly improved land with a fine orchard having a great variety of fruit and peach trees.
In 1885 John Wesley married Susie Siothia Edwards, daughter of Abraham C. and Martha (Williams) Edwards. Mrs. Johnson was born in Green, Bond Co., Illinois , and was educated in the public schools. Of this Union there was 5 children, Edith Esther Ernestine, Tenny Wesley, Harold E, Otis and Melvin. Politically Mr. Johnson belongs to the Populist party. He was greatly interested in the cause of education and was a director of school district 72, Logan County. He had also served as constable in his township.
