Orlando "Michael" D'Elia, age 62, resident of Mannsville, died Wednesday at his home on County Route 89. He was a resident of Mannsville since 1998, previously living in Pulaski. Michael was born May 3, 1946 in Italy, the son of Antonio and Anna Leone D'Elia. He graduated from Henniger High School in 1965. He served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Enterprise from 1965 to 1967. He married Lynette Sweeney August 29, 1998. Michael served 25 years with the New York State Police retiring in 1998. During his time with the NYS Police, he served on the Drug Task Enforcement Agency, the BCI, and he also served as a U.S. Marshal. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Black Horse Chapter. Surviving: his wife, Lynette; three sons, Michael and Orlando D'Elia both of Fort Wayne, IN, and Justin D'Elia of Pulaski; one daughter, Amanda Wood of Pulaski; four brothers, Bernardo, John and Anthony D'Elia all of Syracuse, and Frank D'Elia of Anchorage, AK; three sisters, Ada Pistello, Flora Gilner, and Wanda Haupt all of Syracuse; three grandchildren, Michael Jr., Connor, and Logan and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home, 52 Park Street, Pulaski with a burial in Pulaski Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday (today) at the funeral home. Donations may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County, 425 Washington Street, Watertown, NY 13601.
