Sikeston - Dorothy E. Alley, 96, died June 1, 2006, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
Born June 8, 1909, in New Madrid County, daughter of the late William Gardner and Maudie Beck Hastings, she was a member of Little Vine Church of the Big Opening Community.

In April 1939, she married John Franklin Alley who preceded her in death in April 1966.

One son, Carl Melvin Alley; two brothers, William Doyle Hastings and Ralph Franklin Hastings; and three sisters, Opal Pruett, Mary Hopper and Leta Settles, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include: one daughter, Janette Vaden of Truman, AR; one brother, Donald Ray Hastings of Sikeston; four sisters, Lucille Pruett, Lizzie Campbell and Modena Hastings of Sikeston and Ozeal Jones of Anderson, IN; and three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be until times of services at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston. The Rev. Gaylord Grindstaff, pastor of Illinois Avenue General Baptist Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
