A memorial service will be held for Wayne L. Brooks, who died April 12, 2000, in Lebanon, Pa. Friends and relatives are invited and may call Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Brown-McClay Funeral Home, 48 S. Maple St., Vergennes, Vt. A memorial remembrance service will follow at 2 p.m. Born on Aug. 13, 1950, in Burlington, he was the son of the late David and Jean (Larrow) Brooks. He was a native of the Vermont region, having graduated from Vergennes High School and prior to that spent his earlier childhood in Witherbee, N.Y. He served in the armed services during the 1970s and spent his remaining years in the antique business and was a well-known dealer throughout the eastern United States. Wayne was a person with a great sense of humor, always trying to lift the spirits of those around him. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Survivors include his special companion, Aimee Schuld; his children, Sheri and Wayne Brooks and Stephanie Backus; his sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Jack LeClair; three nephews, David, Ricky and Travis; several aunts and uncles; and many cousins and special friends. During his last 10 years, Wayne was a dedicated member of a fellowship program, which allowed him to live happy, joyous and free and to share his serenity with countless others. He will be deeply missed by all those that his life touched with his special gift of kindess, concern, and love for life.
