MRS. MARY NEWBY DIES IN SAN ANGELO
The body of Mrs. Mary Effie Newby, 68 who died today in a hospital at San Angelo, texas, is being returned to Tucumcari where it will lie in state in the Dunn Funeral Home.
Fureral arrangments will be announced later by Dunn's. Interment will be in Tucumcari Memorial Park.
Mrs. Newby had resided in Tucumcari since 1931. She was visiting in the home of her son M-Sgt. James Newby, at San Angelo when she became seriously ill. She was the widow of Ed Newby, well -known police officer of Tucumcari who died November 1, 1959. Mrs. Newby was a member of the Christian Church of Palo Pinto County, Texas
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Juanita Nix, Tucumcari; Mrs. Beatrice deValera, Las Vegas, Nevada; Mrs Estellene Sills, Grand Junction, Colorado; Mrs. Muriel Spears, Hiko, Nevada; and Mrs. Luella Fitzner, durango, Colorado. Two sons, Lewis Newby, Weatherford, Texas, and M-Sgt. James Newby, San Angelo, Texas; and 20 grandchildren. Also her mother, Mrs. J.M. Reed, Perrin, Texas; five brothers and three sisters. They are: Bill Reed, Perrin; Nathan Reed and H. Reed, Mineral Wells, Texas; A.O. Reed and A.B. Reed, Graham, Texas; Mrs. John Nicklas, Graford, Texas; Mrs. Garland Cline. Albuquerque; and Mrs. Maggie Conner (spelling), Moskogee, Okla. and other relatives. [ There are many errors in this obituary.]

RITES WEDNESDAY FOR MRS. NEWBY
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Effie Newby, 68, will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in Dunn's Memorial Chapel. The Rev. John C. Wiles, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will officiate.
Active pallbearers will be Manford Rainwater, Julius Fitzner, Lyman Dudley, Len Hardesty, and Bill Williams.
Honorary bearers will be Richard R. Williams, Tom Bowman. Dr.A.T.Gordon, Clarence Fitzner, A.J. Shields, Hubert Beasley, Fred DeOliviera, Sam Marsh, Johnie Dugger and Lawrence Fitzner.
The body will lie in state at Dunn Funeral Home until time for services.
Interment will be in Tucumcari Memorial Park.
Mrs. Newby, a pioneer resident of Tucumcari, died Monday in San Angelo, Texas.
