ALVIN JOSEPH OGLINE, s/o Eli & Sarah Ann Good Ogline, the grandson of Josiah and Julian Good, Phillip & Elizabeth Emert Ogline all from Somerset County, Pennsylvania.

Alvin Joseph OGLINE married the former Minnie Mae Bruner d/o Henry and Catherine Lynia KLINE-BRUNER (also from Somerset County) November 10, 1896 in the Beam Church, Gray, Somerset County, PA. Alvin was born, raised, and lived on farm lands above Friedens between ACOSTA and NANAVEE where his father Eli and his siblings had also been born. The fertile lands had always produced plentiful food and income which supported the family.

In conversation with his daughter, Alice Bruner OGLINE-FOX, this researcher discovered that the family's 252 acre farm operation had fastly become burdensome for Alvin to maintain with each years passing. With day labor not always readily available when needed, his parents took seriously suggestion to get out of the farming business when a neighbor sold their farm.

A fellow Grange Society member, John Walters (himself a Farmer's Life Insurance Agent) had suggested many times that Alvin CONSIDER insurance sales as a career instead of farming. It was in 1923 Alvin with encourgement from his wife and daughter Fern decided to start a family owned and operated insurance business. Within a years time profits were good with prospects for increased business even better. The Ogline Insurance Agency was now a thrieving 4 county wide business. Content AND secure that income earned would adequately support family needs, Alvin and Minnie decided to sell the FAMILY farm in 1925.

Alvin and Minnie Ogline parented (6) CHILDREN, three had died in infancy while five* would go on after high school to teachers college. Four would earn degrees at Millersville University, Millersville, and the fifth** from Harrisburg Teachers College.
