ALLEN Laurene G. Allen "Granny", of Jacksonville, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2007. She was born on April 28, 1922 in Metter, GA to the late Thomas and Beulah Griffin. Laurene was in the upholstery business for many years and lived to cook and sew for those she loved and will be greatly missed. She will be remembered as a loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer B. Allen. Left to cherish her memory are her children Lana Harris and Ben Allen (Carol); stepchildren Willard Allen (Corliss), Iva Dean Rountree, Joan Veal (Ralph); brother Bobby Griffin; sisters Christine Robinson, Tiny Sirmans, Barbara Ann Sanders; grandchildren Trey, Heather, Ashley, and Hope; six step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren Caleb, Brady and many other family and friends. Funeral Services will be held at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home at 729 S. Edgewood Avenue on Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at 11am. Family will receive friends Tuesday, May 29, 2007 from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
