Paul H. Burns, 40, manager of the Burns Ecco Service Station, Bangor St., Augusta, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning. He was born Jan. 12, 1918 at North Whitefield, the son of John F. and Mary E. Hanly Burns.
A life-long resident of North Whitefield, Burns was one of the prime movers in organizing the North Whitefield Volunteer Fire Department. He was a former treasurer of the town and was chairman of the Democratic town committee. He was a member of the Governor Kavanaugh Council, Knights of Columbus.
Surviving is his wife, Jane F. Ward Burns and two sons, John W. and Daniel T., all of North Whitefield; an aunt, Mrs. Amy Quinn of Augusta, and several cousins.
A requiem high funeral Mass was sung at St. Denis Catholic Church, North Whitefield, at 9 a.m. today.
