Burris
Loyd "Shorty" Burris, son of the late John Humphery and Susie Stubbs Burris, was born April 29, 1923, in Rush Creek. He died August 17, 1997, in Mountain Home. He was 74.
Mr. Burris was united in marriage to Violet Stapleton, April 11, 1953, in Yellville. He spent most of his life as fishing guide for Rose Fishing Service. He was of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include his wife of the home; one daughter, Lola Faye Bell of Idaho; three sons, Earnest Lee Burris of Calico Rock; Jimmy Burris and his wife, Sheryl, of Brockwell; and Terry Wayne Burris of Calico Rock; two granddaughters, Dondee and Dhiaa Burris of Brockwell; and one grandson, Levi Burris of Gassville. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 21, 1997, at 2:00 p.m. at the Pleasant Valley Community Church in Calico Rock with Tom Cone and Donnie Speaks officiating.
Pallbearers are Jim Davis, Chuck Day, Duran Stapleton, Steve Cooper , Troyce May, and Raymond Owens.
Interment will be at the Norfork Cemetery under the direction of the Eddy Howard Funeral Home in Melbourne.
