John Richard Moon II was the son of Dr. John and Adelia (Hemstreet) Moon. He was an only son and had 3 other sisters.
He married first Clara A. Smith and had several children. But tradgedy struck when Clara died young giving birth to their last child.
Their children's names were: Willie, Lillian, Lydia, Maynetta, and Arthur B. Moon, with Willie and Lydia dying as babies.

Later, John married Frances aka Fannie Thompson. They had one daughter together named Gertrude Moon.
John died suddenly of heart trouble. He had spent many years working as a merchant and general dealer in horses and stock.
Besides his widow, he left to mourn him his three living daughters: Miss Gertrude Moon of Stratford, NY; Mrs Lillian Dunn of Alder Creek; and Mrs. Maynetta aka Nettie Hayes(#1 marriage name- Boyer)(#2 marriage name- Hayes)of Oriskany Falls and one son, Arthur B. of Herkimer. Also, one sister, Sarah (Moon) Nellis of Dolgeville. Funeral was largely attended from his late home by Rev. C. A. Moulton officiating, with burial to be in the Stratford Cemetery, Herkimer County, NY.
