YVONNE M. HOODENPYL was born August 24, 1937 in Orchard, Nebraska, the daughter of the late Martin Andresen and Ercil (Warner) Andresen. She was raised and received her education in the Orchard community, until the age of ten years old when she moved with her family to Oregon, settling in the Cornelius community. Yvonne attended schools in Cornelius and Hillsboro, having been a graduate of the Hillsboro Union High School Class of 1955.
She was united in marriage to E. Gene Hoodenpyl on August 3, 1955 in Vancouver, Washington. Following their marriage they made their home in the Gaston community. YVonne was preceded in death by her husband, Gene, on August 18, 1988 in Hillsboro, Oregon, after celebrating over thirty-three years of marriage together.
Yvonne had worked as a housekeeper for the Tuality Forest Grove Community Hospital and later for Tuality Community Hospital in Hillsboro in the kitchen for several years, until she retired at the age of 65.
Among her special interests she enjoyed word puzzles, playing pinochle and camping. YVonne also loved playing bingo and spending time with her grandchildren. She also was an official Gaston Fire Department Muster Team supporter and enjoyed Fire Department activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister-in-law, Geraldine "Gerry" Andresen.
Survivors include her two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry G. and Laurie Hoodenpyl; and Galen L. and Patty Hoodenpyl, all of Gaston, Oregon; and her two brothers, Darvon Andresen and Leroy Andresen, both of Forest Grove, Oregon.
Also surviving are her ten grandchildren and their spouses, Deon and Jason Kellar; Scott and Stephanie Hoodenpyl; and Randy and Ashley Hoodenpyl, all of Gaston, Oregon; Andrew Hoodenpyl, of Forest Grove, Oregon; Kimberly Hoodenpyl and Kyle Brunner, of Gresham, Oregon; Kirk Hoodenpyl and Amy Fahy, of Hillsboro, Oregon; Jennifer Hoodenpyl, of Gaston, Oregon; Tawnya Roozeboom, of Salem, Oregon; Brenda Montgomery, of Forest Grove, Oregon; and Bobbie Montgomery, of Forest Grove, Oregon; her eleven great grandchildren, Jorden Roozeboom, Tanner Roozeboom, Maddilynne Begg, Rilee Jordan, Orianna Hoodenpyl, Colton Kellar, Brooke Kellar, DeLainey Kemry, Travis Kellar, Samantha Hoodenpyl and EmmaLee Brunner; and several nieces and nephews.
The family suggests that remembrances may be made to the Gaston Fire Department, Rescue #11, 102 E. Main Street, Gaston, Oregon 97119, in her memory.
