The Daily Notes, Canonsburg PA, Wednesday 26 April 1933, page 3 - PETERS TOWNSHIP RESIDENT IS DEAD --- JOHN N. BELL of Thompsonville, son of JOHN M. BELL and MARGARET JOHNSTON BELL, died in his home this morning at 10:45 o'clock, following an illness which extended over a period of nine years. He was born at Finleyville, November 16, 1855 but had resided in Peters Township the greater part of his life. Mr. Bell was one of the most highly respected residents of the township and always took a great interest in all civic affairs. At the time of his death he was the senior elder of the Center Presbyterian Church, having served in that capacity for the past 35 years. He served as a member of the Peters Township school board for 16 years. He followed farming all his life. He was twice married, his first wife being ADDA M. McPHERSON. He was married to her November 2, 1882, to whom the following children were born, and all survive: LOLA M. KERR, Taylorstown; WILLIAM P. BELL, Pasadena, Calif.; LLOYD J. BELL, McMurray; J. ALVAN BELL, Thompsonville, and J. VANCE BELL, Booth Bay Harbor, Me. His second marriage was to SARAH JANE GUTHRIE, and to this union the following children survive: EVA JANE THOMAS, Thomas; LAURA EMMA SMITH, Niagara Falls, N.Y., and MARY OLIVE DONALDSON, at home. He also leaves one sister, MRS. MARY B. ROACH of Thompsonville. The body was taken to the Hinton Funeral Home here and removed to the late residence this afternoon. Funeral arrangement will be announced later.

The Daily Notes, Canonsburg PA, Thursday 27 April 1933, front page - JOHN N. BELL FUNERAL TO BE HELD SATURDAY - Funeral services for JOHN N. BELL, who died Wednesday at his home in Thompsonville, will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the Center Presbyterian Church, in charge of the pastor the Rev. R. B. Wilson. Burial will be made in the church cemetery. Mr. Bell was senior elder of that congregation and had served in that capacity for the past 35 years.
