William "Bill" Baley Sr., 76, Tulelake, died Oct. 24, 2004, of natural causes in Klamath Falls.
Mr. Baley was born July 31, 1928, in Alexandria, La., to John Charles and Rose Idalene (Sedlacek) Baley.
When he was 1 year old, he moved with his family to Tulelake, where he was raised and educated, graduating from Tulelake High School in 1946.
He married Jody Stacy in 1949.
He began farming with his father and brothers, growing potatoes and barley for his entire life.
After graduating from high school, he worked for George Stacy Co. as a heavy equipment operator and also worked as a long-haul truck driver.
Mr. Baley was a member of the Tulelake Elementary School Board, former president of the 20-30's Club, and a member of the Tulelake Grange, Moose Lodge, Malin Pistol and Rifle Club, National Farmers Association, Tulelake Volunteer Fire Department, Newell Grain Growers Association, Tulelake Growers Association, and Pheasants Forever.
He was also a volunteer ambulance driver and a Cub Scouts pack leader.
He played on the Tulelake Men's Town Basketball team and on the Merchants semi-pro baseball team.
Mr. Baley was an avid sportsman and loved hunting, fishing, shooting, and bowling with his father and brothers, winning numerous shooting and bowling trophies.
He was well known for his wildlife photography.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law William and Deborah Baley Jr. of Tulelake; son Steve Baley of Merrill; daughter and son-in-law Lanie Baley and "Johnny Wolf" of Tulelake; brothers Ronnie and Ed Baley of Tulelake; grandchildren Jody Davis, Alyssa Rouse, Frankie, Kale, Travis and Kristen Baley, Shawna Welks, Shannen Wilson, and Steve, Sam and William Wolf; and great-grandchildren Brittany Beard, Casey and AJ Davis, Ketsen Rouse, Tessa Wilson and Jasmine Welks.
He was preceded in death by John Baley Jr.
