Funeral services for John H. Armstrong, retired farmer and rancher, who died at his home Monday, May 3, 1948, following a short illness, will be held Thursday, May 6 at the Moore Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00pm with the Reverand V. A. Jones officiating. Mr. Armstrong was born November 17, 1873 in Atlanta, Georgia. He married Lucy S. Baker in Carbon, TX on December 23, 1899. He came to Greer county in 1907 and moved to Beckham County near Sayre in 1921, where he had been a resident since that time.
His wife preceded him in death on July 11, 1918.
Survivors include two daughters: Maggie Viola Armstrong Roles and husband Ray Roles and Mary Sue Armstrong Hester and husband J. D. Hester all of Whitedeer, TX; five sons: William Logan Armstrong of Dolores, Colorado, Jesse Lee Armstrong and wife Mattie Elizabeth Harrel Armstrong and C. L. Armstrong and wife, Rosa Estelle Robison Armstrong all of Claude, Texas, Jack Armstrong and wife, Gussie Mae Murray Armstrong and John H. Armstrong, Jr. and wife Oleta Louise Brown Armstrong all of Holtville, California; thirteen grandchildren, and one brother, P. M. Armstrong of Cuervo, New Mexico.
Committal will be in the White Flat Cemetery, Mangum, Oklahoma with Moore Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
