Eurity Mershon was born in Shelby county, Ky., June 26, 1824 and departed this life for a better, Dec. 26, 1918 at her home in Salem.
She came to Iowa when a child. She was married to Jonathan A. Frazier at Salem Dec. 21, 1849. They settled on a farm three and one-half miles northeast of Salem, where they resided until 1902 when they moved to town. There were born to them nine children, seven of whom survive. The two deceased were Mary Jane, who died in infancy, and Mrs. Flora Gordon who died at Minneapolis, Minn. in 1917. The living children are Charles E., and Lant Frazier of Salem; Delila Olivia White of Anoka, Minn.; Sylvanus of Minneapolis; Mrs. Alice Carpenter, Miss Lillie, and Mrs. Maud Davidson of Salem.
Mrs. Frazier was about ninety -four years of age, and from early life had been religious, a long-time member of the Friends church. Surely her trustful, prayerful life has not been in vain. Perhaps her admonition to her children would be, to subordinate every thing to the higher ends, that the "Circle be unbroken at last. In the last years of helplessness she exhibited a beautiful patience and forbearance. And only when directly asked, would she acknowledge to great suffering. All this was heightened by her mother's undivided love to all her children alike. Thus did she fulfill her mission of wife, mother and servant of God. And at last in sweet release, she exchanges earthly infirmities for a more enduring Home, "where age hath no power o'er the fadeless frame.".......
Funeral was conducted by Rev. Gray at the Friends church in Salem, Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Burial in Friends cemetery.
