Funeral Services for Bertha A. Rice, 909 New York Avenue in Ogdensburg will be held privately with Rev. Robert Longbottom officiating. Entombment will be at Foxwood Memorial Park.

Mrs. Rice passed away on March 7, at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Arrangements are with Fox-McLellan Funeral Home .

Surviving is her mother, Filomena Meyer, of Ogdensburg; her husband, Frederick Rice, of Ogdensburg; a son, Edward Marney, of Potsdam; two daughters, Marcy Lajoie of Carthage, and Stacy Haley and her husband, Steven, of Liverpool; three step-daughters, Rae Rice of Heuvelton, Lynn Borland and her husband, John, of Shirts, TX, and Dana Langley and her husband, Greg, of Ogdensburg; three sisters, Patricia Badlam and her husband, John, Joan Doe and her husband, Albert, and Pamela Woodward and her husband, John, all of Ogdensburg; 14 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her father John Meyer predeceased her in 1991.

She was born on June 1, 1940 in Brooklyn, NY a daughter of John & Filomena (Domiano) Meyer. She attended Ogdensburg Free Academy for her education and was employed at Ames Department Store, Compass Manufacturing and Kinney Drugs during her working career. She retired in 1995. She married Frederick Rice on June 9, 1995 in Ogdensburg with justice of the peace Calvin Brown officiating.

She was an active member of St. John Episcopal Church and volunteered at St. Joseph's Nursing Home for several years. She enjoyed casino gambling, shopping, knitting, crocheting, garage sales, collecting angles & Beanie Babies and spending time with her family.
