Enlisted 3 June, 1951, died 28 January, 1953. Buried 27 July, 1953. Serial # 521964
David was born 28 September, 1925, to Leo Arthur Jarvis and Katherine Irene Dunlevy.
He lived most of his young life in Minneapolis, Minnesota with his parents and sister Anna
David enlisted in the U.S. Navy on 3 June, 1951.

"...On 28 January, 1953, four officers and six crewmen, flying a VP-9 P4Y BUNO: 59937, were lost while making a approach to NAS Whidbey Island, Washington. There were no survivors and the wreckage on Black Peak, WA, was not found until the snow melted in April. The plane commander was LT(jg) Leland R. Stegemerten and the co-pilot was LT(jg) David Jarvis. They were transporting the Commander of FAW-6, Capt Julian David (Judy) Greer (USNA-1927) and a member of his staff, LT(jg) O.C. Everhart, from NAS Alameda, California to attend a meeting at NAS Whidbey Island, Washington. Crew members were: ADC C.C. Longacre, AT1 T.W. Huffman, AO3 J.A. Kerrigan, AO3 J.L. McDonnell, AD3 H.L. Ziemba and ADAN T.J. Whited." *
The plane hit Black Peak, Washington at 5000 feet, attributed to bad weather.

Seattle Daily Times Newspaper, 29 Jan, 1953:
"Search for a Navy Privateer patrol bomber has been narrowed to cloud-shrouded Mount Pilchuck, north of Sultan, Snohomish County, the Navy reported today.
The big, four engine plane carrying 10 men vanished yesterday afternoon after it was cleared for landing at Whidbey Island Naval Air Station".

The Seattle Times Newspaper, July 7:
"The wreckage was found Saturday by three mountaineers. No bodies have been found".

On 17 July, 1953, the Walla Walla Union-Bulletin Newspaper, page 7,
"The Navy reported on Thursday a medical team had found seven bodies at the foot level of Black Peak where a Navy Privateer with 10 people aboard crashed last January.
The bodies, not identified, will be brought out by a Navy helicopter operating from Baring, Washington, Cascade town near the peak. Search was being continued for additional bodies".

David's death record from Washington state says he died at Jump-Off Ridge, Black Peak, Cascade Mountains, crash of PB4Y aircraft, while on active duty., 28 January, 1953. Document #146, ref ID # 13306.
He was 27 years old.

Survived by his mother Katherine Irene Jarvis and sister Anne E. Jarvis.
