Victor Baert, 87, of 725 E. 8th, died 2 a.m. Sunday at Mt. Carmel Medical Center where he had a patient since Thursday. Mr. Baert had been ill the past four years. Born May 10, 1885 in Pittsburg he had lived here all of his life, July 10, 1907 he married Anna Sims in Girard. She survives. They had celibrated their 65th wedding anniversary last July.

Mr. Baert had been employed by the Kansas City Southern 27 years prior to his retirement. Survivors are the widow of the home;two daughters, Mrs. Mary Hand of 1916 South Taylor and Mrs. Bernadine Morrisey of Plesanton; five sons, Albert Baert of Christmas Valley, Ore., Jack Baert of 717 E 8th, Robert Baert of Klamath Falls, Ore., Richard Baert of 712 E 8th and Donald Baert of Merriam, Kansas. 18 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith Chapel. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Chapel. Elder T.W. Bath will officiate.
