Mrs. Carrie Smith Davenport, 90, of Cross Hill, widow of Joe H. Davenport, died Friday night at the Confederate Home in Columbia after several years of declining health.
She was a native of Edgefield County but lived in Laurens County near Cross Hill most of her life. She was a member of the Cross Hill Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late John T. and Lucreatia Storey Smith. She was the last member of her immediate family.
Survivers include one foster daughter, Mrs. Carrie Lou Cole of near Cross Hill, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon from the Cross Hill Baptist Church by the Rev. C. B. Rogers. Interment was in Liberty Springs Cemetery at Cross Hill.
