Miss Olive Horning, 77, passed away December 12 at the Brodstone Hospital in Superior, after a short illness. She lived alone in Nelson after retiring from a teaching career, and had just recently moved to the Good Samaritan Home in Nelson.
Funeral services were Friday, Dec. 15 at the Klawitter Funeral Home in Nelson, with Rev. James Hendrickson officiating. Burial was in the McCool Junction Cemetery.

Miss Olive Horning was born in Fillmore County, Nebraska, September 15, 1890, and passed away at the Brodstone Hospital in Superior on December 12, 1967, at the age of 77, after an extended illness.
Miss Horning's parents were Ezra Horning and Louveria Adams Horning. She is survived by two neices (sic), Miss Dorothy Horning of Monroe, Michigan and Mrs. Helen Zusne of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and two nephews, Mr. Walter Ray Horning of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Dr. Wendell Horning of Woodland Hills, California, and 11 great-neices (sic) and grandnephews.
Miss Horning taugt (sic) for many years in Nuckolls County as a grade-school teacher, beginning her career in 1910. She served in the Nelson area until a brief period of retirement around 1955. Shortly afterward she resumed teaching in Iowa for a few years, until her final retirement when she returned to her home in Nelson.
Services for Miss Olive Horning were held December 15 at the Klawitter Funeral Home with Rev. James Hendrickson officiating. Interment was in the McCool Junction Cemetery.
