Said to be born in Batcombe, Broadway, Somerset, England to Nicholas & Elizabeth Norton, Sr. Married Elizabeth Isaac about 1640, probably in Weymouth MA. Their ten children included Hannah (Norton) Williams.
Here's what Find A Grave contributor Mary Jo Freeman has on Nicholas Norton:
nother source says he was born in White Lackington, but his father moved from White Lackington to Broadway about 1570.
He emigrated to America in 1635, probably coming with the party of colonists accompanying Rev. John Hull.
On the ship "Hopewell" which left England in Sept 1635 was:
Norton William 25 - Sworn August 29, 1635
He probably came with the party of colonists accompanying Rev. John Hull.
Nicholas first appeared in Weymouth, Massachusetts where in 1637 he married Elizabeth Isaac. While in Weymouth he was the constable in 1657; in 1658 his servant got into some trouble with the magistrates. He may have been a tanner. Nicholas and Elizabeth lived in Weymouth for 20 years.
About 1659 they moved to Martha's Vineyard. On Aug. 22, 1659 "Goodman" Norton was granted "a Lott of forty acres of Land." In 1673 he joined in the "Dutch Rebellion" with others of his townsmen and when it collapsed he was tried and convicted and ordered to pay 50 pounds. His 40 acres was located north of the Great Swamp and south of the present road to West Tilsbury. He also owned land at Sanchacantackett in the vicinity of Major's Cove where his descendants lived for two centuries, and he owned a plot of meadow land at Aquampache.
His will was dated April 17, 1690, and he died soon afterward (age 66). Elizabeth died a few months later (between June & Oct. 1690). 10 children (4 sons, 6 daughters)
